Alarm future for New York is likely to be submerged by the ocean!

According to a new report written by 50 scientists and published Wednesday by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority devastating floods such as those caused in upstate New Yorkon 'Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee will occur more often in 2020, because of climate change are hitting the area. The 600-page report, called ClimAID, say to New Yorkers who must contend with increasingly hotter summers, snowy winters, more severe floods and a number of other effects on the environment, communities and human health.

"In less than an hour - the experts write - one third of the streets ofNew York could be invaded by the waters, and these in turn could inundate many tunnels leading to Manhattan, "but not only. " Rising sea levels due to climate change could dangerously expose Manhattan to flooding during heavy storms. The whole city could well suffer the consequences of global warming. "

"The rise in sea level due to climate change could expose dangerously Manhattan to flooding during severe storms. The whole city could well suffer the consequences of global warming. "

The worst may arrive after 2020: "if nothing is done to curb the rapid melting of polar ice, the waters around Manhattan and Long Island could rise by up to 25 cm, while in 2050 the rise in sea level could rise at one meter. Most of the tunnels, metros, highways and railways that cross the Bronx and passes under the Harlem River and under the East River would be flooded in less than an hour. Of course, areas of the city that would become uninhabitable today are populated with sea level rise. " The study also provides that the annual average temperatures in upstate New York will rise from 4 to 9 degrees by 2080 and the rainfalls will increase from 5 to 15 percent, especially in winter. Other plausible effects as a result of these climate changes could be as follows: coastal wetlands would be flooded with salt water, causing the loss, if not disappearance, of some animals, such as Atlantic salmon, as well as some fruits, such as apples, or plants such as spruce, decrease the production of milk, and be born parasites, insects and invasive weeds. In the summer months, this situation could expose New Yorkers to the energy shortage with the risk of blackouts due to the need for extra air conditioning. In short, the climate could become New York City and around a real nightmare in the near future, with the ripple effects and untold damage ...
